First off, each coach will have their own style. Since they have been so successful with their own, how likely are they to teach someone else's way? You are studying their playing style then. So why is it bad if it brings in money for them? Well, a race car driver could drive at 150 mph and be almost completely safe, but it would be negligent of him to attempt to instruct a novice driver.

Victor, who had made countless millions trading stocks and shares, detailed the time he took 38 trainees under his wing in a book titled The New Market Wizards. He meticulously explained his trading strategies to them until they understood everything he knew. Out of the 38, 5 made money and it is even unclear how the 5 fared over the long run. 

Victor, however, cited a lack of emotional restraint as the main fault of those who failed. It fails when you are expected to rely on the information given to you because you are doubting what has been taught to you and this is because of negative variance which ultimately messes with your mind. 

This is the problem with adopting other people's methods. They are not your methods and because they are not your methods, they fail when the going gets tough and you are exposed to rely on the information given to you.
